In 2009, I completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis on Couples and Families from the University of Northern Colorado.
In 2011, I completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training. EMDR is a technique often used for trauma, but can be applied to a variety of issues.
Clinical Experience
I began my private practice in January 2011. I love working as a therapist and am fortunate to be located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Prior to starting my practice, I had experience completing substance and mental health assessments for the Adult and Juvenile Drug Court programs.
I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist at the Family Medicine Center, which gave me insight into the medical world and the significant stressors involved with medical conditions.
At the University of Northern Colorado Psychological Services Clinic, I worked with individuals, couples and families.
As a Counselor at Turning Point I worked with adolescent girls placed in residential treatment.
Judicial Experience
Since 2004, I have worked for the 8th Judicial District Courts located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I have worked with many types of cases, including the Adult and Juvenile Drug Court programs, Family Treatment Court, and the Wellness Court and AIIM programs, working primarily with substance addiction and mental health.
I have met some inspiring people whose life experiences and choices led down a path of destruction and harm. I have been able to witness people with great inner strength and impressive motivation make significant life changes.
In addition to my education, my work as a Probation Officer and as a Treatment Court Coordinator have offered me a greater understanding of the criminal justice system.
